The
Adirondack Curriculum Project has
successfully conducted workshops for K-12 teachers in Newcomb, Tupper
Lake, Paul Smiths, Raquette Lake, Saranac Lake, and Lake George. Our
workshops are
hands-on, collaborative, and model the “Adirondack Challenge.” We
provide experienced presenters, resource people, and
teacher facilitators. Our goal is for each participant to leave with a
challenge to use in the classroom that will both meet NYS Learning
Standards, prepare students for assessments, and help students learn
about the Adirondacks.

Feedback:
“Adirondack Fair” Workshop - August 25th and 26th Newcomb Central School
What did you
like best about the workshop?
- I like working together on challenges
with immediate facilitator feedback.
- Jack did a wonderful job of getting us
talking/working with each other in ways we may not normally.
- the organization
- I enjoyed both days and felt you were a
lot of help to us.
- The lunches were great/ Leaving with a
useful product.
- The past 2 days were very productive for
me as they allowed me to think about more creative and collaborative
approach to teaching my students.
- The structure, the opportunity for
feedback, the collaborative nature of the effort, the focus on specific
challenges of our choice.
- I felt these 2 days were engaging
and kept most involved. Time was used effectively.
- I liked day 1 much more than Day 2. Day 2
boiled down to tedium in the afternoon. Did enjoy Day 2 morning getting
to see everyones’ challenge and seeing good comments.
- I liked the comfortable atmosphere of the
room, the exchange of ideas, communication and work time to create an
actual product
- The last 2 days have been very productive
for me. I am excited to begin my challenge and learn more about logging
camps.
- I loved the time to collaborate with
colleagues! Great format!
- Accomplished a final product.
- In the past two days I liked the humor
and focussed direction of discussion.
- This was a fabulous opportunity to
collaborate and plan curriculum while establishing a great system for
on-going curriculum planning.
- These were very constructive and
productive curriculum days. I am very appreciative of the fact I have a
product I can use in my classroom.
- Clearer understanding about our
Adirondack Fair. Designing a challenge to start.
- I liked positive safe communication; we
came away with a product; fun and laughter.
