Adirondack Minerals Coloring Book

Student Handout

The Challenge:

With your assigned partner, fill in the mineral data sheet on your Adirondack mineral. Suggested resources for information are given at the bottom of this sheet. Other resources may also be used.

Select at least two of the mineral’s uses from your data sheet. Especially focus on those uses that affect your life. With your partner, plan a drawing to represent those uses. Your drawing will become a page in our “Adirondack Mineral Coloring Book”. Your drawing will be done a 9x12 paper (vertically) so make it big enough to fill most of the paper. Draw it in the style of a coloring sheet.

Label the items in your picture

Neatly print the mineral’s name and chemical symbol/formula at the top of the page. Include a sentence at the bottom telling all of the uses for your mineral. (i.e. Graphite is used for . . . . )
