Investigative Question or Issue: How can we represent the
beautiful features, places, historical figures, and events of the
Adirondacks?
Challenge:
After
completing a unit on the Adirondacks each student will create a 4
page scrapbook of some aspect of the Adirondacks. This may be a
natural feature, a historical figure, or a historical event.
Context for Challenge: This is a culminating project after a unit
on the Adirondacks. The directions and details of the project
will be given to the students before the unit begins so they can be
thinking about what they want to do for their scrapbook.
Directions: The teacher should complete a scrapbook of their own
to show the students as an example. Each student will get 2
pieces of 8 1/2 X 11 tagboard. This will be the front and back
cover of their scrapbook. They will put a title of their
scrapbook on the front cover and decorate it appropriately if they
choose. They will get 4 additional pieces of paper the same size
to do their scrapbook pages. The first page will be and
introduction to their topic. The second and third pages will be
the details and the fourth page will be the conclusion or
summary. Each page will consist of pictures and captions
explaining their pictures. After students have completed their
scrapbook the teacher will put it together with brads or some other
type of fastening style.

Quality Standards:

historical figure, or event of the Adirondacks.
- Information is accurate.
- All pages of the scrapbook are completed and
have the required items on them in the correct order.
- The scrapbook is neatly done and pleasing to
look at.
