Prior to engaging in this challenge, students should explore selected readings and illustrated resources which describe how various animials of the Adirondacks adapt to seasonal changes in their habitat. Some of the resources may be passages of text from a yearly guide that is read to the students by the teacher.
In teams of two formed with the help of your teacher, choose an animal native to the Adirondacks that is of interest to both of you.
Create a series of 12 calendar illustrations that could be used to show how your selected animal adapts to changes in its habitat during each month of the year. Be sure that your work accurately depicts both the habitat of the animal as well as any special characteristics of the animal you've chosen.
