The Challenge:
Investigative Question or Issue: How did the first settlers of the Adirondack mountains survey the land and map the roads and trails?
The Challenge:

In groups of four, you will acquire mapping skills through the exploration and development of an orienteering course.  With the use of a compass, create a topographic map and a set of directions for another group to follow.

* Course must include: cross a body of water, 5 slope changes, 10 check points

* Map must include: Title, Legend, Contour lines at Standard interval, labels, scales, colors, date, compass rate.

* Accuracy:  Students are able to follow the course.
