| Investigative Question or Issue: What are the significant characteristics of an Adirondack river located near your town? |
| Context:
Note from the author: I chose the Raquette River and based the presentation and model on the story "Dangerous Falls Ahead" by Liza Frenette. "Three Days in a River in a Red Canoe" by Vera Williams was also another useful story. |
| The Challenge:
In small groups of 3 or 4, create a model of an Adirondack river (or section of a river) that is close to our town. Th emodel may be 3-dimensional or a 2-dimensional graphic representation. As you construct your model, please be sure it cinlcudes the following:
Once you have completed your model, please prepare a presentation in which you share information about your model with an audience selected with the help of your teacher. The presentation should be clear and easy to understand. It may take the form of a lecture, a play, a song, a story, or a poem. All group members are expected to take part in the presentation in some way. Please make sure your presentation includes all of the following:
You will have 5 class periods to complete your model and 5 class periods to work on your presentation. |
