Investigative Question or Issue: How does a river in the
Adirondacks compare with a river on a different continent?
Challenge:
In
groups of 4, "interview" a river in the Adirondacks (see attached
sheet). Research using resources provided (including internet)
Choose a river on another continent and "interview" that river:
Murray-Darling-
Australia
Ganges-Hindus-Yellow-Ob-Asia
Amazon-Parana-Orinoco-South America
Nile-Niger-Congo-Africa
Volga-Danube-Rhine-Europe
Each member of the group will orally answer 3 of the questions
for each river and provide a graphic (computer or hand drawn) to
supplement answer. Students should be creative in their sharing
of the interview. At the end of the interview, the group will share a
complete picture of the river from source to mouth, highlighting the
major questions used in the interview. The interview should
be concluded by a comparison/contrast of lifestyles on the two
rivers.
