Adirondack
Story-Telling
Group Members:
Your Challenge:
Your cooperative group will write and memorize your
original Adirondack Tale. Your group will present your stoy to an
audience. Your performance should be 2-3 minutes in length, but no
longer than five minutes. A written version will also need to be handed
in (neatly
hand-written or typed).
Elements of your Adirondack Tale:
- Choose an
Adirondack village or mountain as the setting
- Include at least
one animal that lives in the Adirondacks
- Include an Adirondack person from the
past
- Include an Adirondack body of water
- Select a time
period for your story
- Use at least 3
Story-telling Techniques:
- Take on the
voice of character
- Candle lighting
- Stick puppets
- Simple costumes
(ie hat, bonnets, apron, shawls etc.)
- Masks
- Narration by one
member while others act out the story
- Setting of the
scene
Your Adirondack
story needs to:
- Include a Title
- Begin with an
Introduction that includes background information
- Be in narrative
form, with a beginning, middle and end
- Describes a
sequence of events and make sense
- Includes both
conflict and resolution
- Use interesting
vocabulary (appropriate for time period), varied and complete sentences
- Use correct
spelling and punctuation in the written version
- Include a list
of references used in the written version
