Investigative Question or Issue: How do people in the Adirondacks celebrate Christmas?

Challenge:  
Students will use a known melody and write a Christmas song that reflects life in the Adirondacks.  Students will obtain historical information from senior relatives and/or acquaintances; they will also draw upon their own experiences and family traditions.   

Quality Standards:

  1.  The lyrics rhyme.
2.  The lyrics match the rhythm of the melody.
3.  The lyrics depict an Adirondack Christmas tradition(s).
4.  The lyrics show how local people celebrate(d) Christmas.
